Champaign, Illinois-based artist Ann Coddington Rast employs fiber techniques from the traditional craft of basketry to create contemporary sculptural expressions and installations that explore how life experiences are sensed, evinced, accumulated and stored in the body. Her evocative work investigates corporeality, spirituality and the ephemeral, as well as the cycle of life: birth, aging and death.
